5 Fatal Marketing Bloopers Every Small Business Owner Should Avoid
Spoiler: it’s all about the details
Here’s an open secret. Success isn’t about doing the right things. It’s about avoiding as many mistakes as possible.
Think about it. If someone knew THE success formula, it would’ve leaked by now and we’d all be making billions. But nobody did because THE success formula doesn’t exist. Everybody has their own version.
What’s common, however, are errors and mistakes that are guaranteed to slow your business down. The idea is to identify those and stay away from there. Here are the top 5 that I’ve been seeing since I first worked in marketing 20 years ago.
1. Underestimating the power of branding
A brand is more than the logo, colors, and fonts. Knowing your brand includes who you are, what you do, who you do it for, why you do it, and why should anyone buy from you. It’s a lot of open questions with answers that evolve over time. Keep asking yourself those questions and at some point your brand will shape itself.
From there, you’ll acquire a clear vision of your business and formulate a vision and mission statements that summarizes your brand. You’ll also find yourself with core values that represent what you stand for.
